About Dr. Frost
Fondly known by his clients and colleagues as "Dr. J," Dr. Justyn Frost is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist dedicated to empowering individuals through evidence-based and compassionate psychological support. Based in Trinidad & Tobago, he specializes in helping clients navigate complex challenges to foster meaningful and sustainable change in their lives.
Dr. Frost is a licensed psychologist in the United States (CO) and a registered psychologist in Trinidad & Tobago. He holds a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited program), with an emphasis in international and multicultural psychology, from Alliant International University in San Diego, California, where he also earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology. Before embarking on his doctoral journey, he attained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Counselling Psychology from The University of the West Indies (Cave Hill, Barbados), after which he practiced for several years with a major local psychological services firm and in his private practice as a psychotherapist serving diverse client populations across Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean.
As the Director and Clinical Psychologist at Trio Psychological Consultancy Services Ltd. in Trinidad and Tobago, he provides psychotherapy and counselling for teens and adults, conducts comprehensive psychological assessments for individuals across the lifespan, offers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services, and provides clinical supervision to emerging and advanced mental health professionals, locally and internationally. His approach to care focuses on empirically-supported interventions utilizing integrative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Dr. Frost is also a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor, a certified rater for the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).
His clinical training includes an APA-accredited internship at the University of Akron’s Counseling and Testing Center in Akron, Ohio. He also completed advanced practica in several clinical settings throughout San Diego, California. These included an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a private neuropsychology practice, and a university psychology clinic which specialized in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). His specialized postdoctoral fellowship training in collegiate mental health was completed at Yale University’s Mental Health and Counseling clinic (Yale Health), in collaboration with the Yale School of Medicine, in New Haven, Connecticut, where he worked with a diverse student population, presenting with a broad spectrum of mental health concerns. Dr. Frost has served diverse communities and individuals across the lifespan throughout the Caribbean and the United States, with special interests in men's mental health, complex trauma, interpersonal relationship distress, anxiety, acculturation, perfectionism, workplace mental health, and burnout.
Dr. Frost is a credentialed Health Service Psychologist (HSP) with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists (NRHSP), a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), and a full registered member with the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Psychologists (TTAP).
